A mix of post recession realities along with advancement in social media web sites has derived companies to think out of the box

Year 2013 arrived without a lot of drama, at least in the printing circles. Fortunately Mayan dooms day prediction did not materialize and US's fiscal cliff has been resolved, albeit temporarily. So a new year is upon us. ME Printer's New Year resolution is to continue offering the latest news and views from across the region and try to make sense of all the information that it absorbs.
Among the very first news we received in the New Year one in particular caught our attention. In a statement that appeared in Xerox digital printing weblog, Jeff Jacobson, Xerox's Global Graphic Communications president announced the company's decision to pull out of Ipex 2014. Along with Heidelberg, HP and Agfa, Xerox is another major high profile player who is opting out of the Ipex 2014. In his statement Jacobson says that their customers prefer regional and personal engagements rather than international exhibitions and to respond to this demand they are focusing on company's own networking programs and solutions. On the other hand they will participate in more specialized trade events such as Hunkeler; due to its continuous feed focus, which Xerox believes is an important offering for its customers and the industry.
For time being the company's intention is to participate at Drupa but who knows? This piece of news tells us that major manufacturers are more and more acting locally rather than globally and they are relying more and more on customized targeted marketing strategies to communicate with their customers. A mix of post recession realities along with advancement in social media web sites has derived the companies to think out of the box and try new tricks. The old ways no longer respond to new realities, so we all have to try new things. This could be a very good New Year resolution as well. What's yours?
